INTERWOOD TAIPEI 2008 Opening Ceremony Remarks by Mr. Yuen Chuan Chao President & CEO of TAITRA Vice Minister of the Ministry of Economic Affairs Mr. Hsieh, Deputy Director General of the Bureau of Foreign Trade Ms. Hsu, President of the Taiwan Association of Machinery Industry Mr. Huang, Chairman of the Taiwan Woodworking Machinery Association Mr. Hung, and all of our friends from the press, good morning. On behalf of TAITRA, I would like to extend my most sincere welcome to all of you for attending the opening ceremony of the 2008 Taipei International Woodworking Machinery and Supplies Show. This year marks the tenth INTERWOOD Taipei, a trade show held once every three years. With the cooperation of TAITRA, TAMI, and TWMA, the show has received the support and acclaim of government and industry. This year's event has been greatly expanded with both the number of exhibitors and booths achieving record highs. The show features 182 exhibitors from home and abroad who are using 1,070 booths to show their best products. Major Taiwanese companies as well as internationally renowned brands are all at the show. Exhibitors from Germany, Japan, Korea, Singapore, India, the Philippines, and Malaysia will surely make this year's exhibition an excellent chance for the woodworking machinery and supplies firms to create business opportunities and learn from each other. Meanwhile, TAITRA and the Ministry of Economic Affairs have invited many major international buyers to the event through our 50 overseas offices. Buyers include those from SAS GEDIMO (France), PROSAW (UK), CANTEK AMERICA (Canada), TECNOMADERAS (Guatemala), TEMSA (El Salvador) and MWM Group (Ukraine). The International Buyers Procurement Seminar is expected to provide an information exchange platform for both exhibitors and buyers, an event that will generate even greater business opportunities. INTERWOOD TAIPEI harnesses the boundless energy and creativity of Taiwan's woodworking machinery industry and encourages Taiwanese companies to design innovative high value-added products of high capacity. To progress this endeavor the organizer has held the "2008 Taipei Woodworking Machinery Design and Products Competition". And the winning entries, to be exhibited at this event, best reflect Taiwan's advanced technology and development capability in woodworking machinery. They will surely provide an eye-opening experience for all the exhibitors and buyers. TAITRA has constantly striven to boost the international profile of this event. To do so we have invited many overseas media outlets to Taiwan to interview some of the exhibitors in March, and we have also arranged for the overseas media to cover and promote this event. I would like to wrap up by thanking all our friends in the media for their support, and wish every participant the best of success with woodworking machinery. They will surely provide an eye-opening experience for all the exhibitors and buyers.
